The Soul of Urban Gospel

Imagine singers that exude sex appeal and are image conscious. Who are streetwise and do not conform to the gospel tradition. Add this to strong gospel vocal versatility for the absolute experience.

Discover Citizen K, the innovative, non-denominational, multi-cultural gospel harmony group from London, England. Taking vocal influences from traditional gospel choirs, Al Green, Aretha Franklin and Kirk Franklin and fusing it with other contemporary genres ranging from classical to dance to pop. Creating compelling music that soothes, heals, makes you cry, makes you yearn. Music that makes you smile, invigorating and penetrating your soul.

Be inspired. Citizen K are celebrating the melting pot society that Britain is today by challenging stereotypical views through their performances. The message is clear: ‘harmony’ stated without political or religious undertones. Therefore the message is positive, fun and entertaining.

Visualise the sound of gospel being more accessible to every society. Reaching people from all class, gender, race, religion, sexuality and national or regional identity. The revolution. Citizen K make real changes to the image of gospel. Taking their unique sound, energy and visual message to audiences across Europe and further afield, performing at music events and concerts, promoting the diversity of British culture and musical genres. Providing gospel vocal workshops to unlock the musical potential of each individual who enjoys listening to the sound of gospel, thereby making gospel more accessible to all.

What’s in a name? Citizen K was born out of desire to express the singers as free spirits, freethinkers, independent individualists who are non-conformist to the gospel tradition whilst maintaining a community vibe.
