Dunajska Kapelye

Dunajska Kapelye are purveyors of Gypsy and Balkan music with verve and panache. They perform their rich mix of traditional jazz and Eastern European tunes as a trio of fiddle plus double bass and guitar, with the option of accordion as an alternative.

The group is led by the emotive Polish virtuoso violinist Piotr Jordan. Piotr has been playing since he was six years old and probably in previous lifetimes as well! He covers classical to bluegrass, lilting celtic ballads to the deepest blues…but it’s his Gypsy violin that makes audiences weak at the knees. The line-up is completed by Yugoslav Viktor Obsust – with his searing, soul rumbling double bass – and the sparkling Jez Cook on cool Django-style guitar. Their exuberant performances are laced with stunning improvisations, a brand of fast and furious musical fun that is a true crowd pleaser.
