Flossie Malavialle and Eddy Jay
French Chanson/Swing duo. This French accordion and vocal duo will create the perfect atmosphere for your French themed event.
Flossie Malavialle is a French born singer-guitarist whose experience as a professional performer started in “La Belle France” 30 years ago. She has been living in the North East of England since July 2002 and currently has 12 albums to her name. She sings and plays a wide variety of songs in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese interspersed with a touch of humour which gives her performances a certain “je ne sais quoi”. Her voice has been described as “rich”, powerful”, “sensitive”, “soulful” and often been compared to that of Edith Piaf, Karen Carpenter and Joan Baez.
She has performed throughout the UK but also worldwide with tours taking her to France, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Spain and more recently Australia, supporting acts including Fairport Convention and Show of Hands.
Eddy Jay is one of the foremost exponents of the accordion in the UK and has been performing jazz, French and folk for over 30 years.
His career also led him to perform in and arrange music for an adaptation of Noel Coward’s “Brief Encounter” who’s tour schedule included Studio 54 Broadway NY, San Francisco and Minneapolis.
His accordion playing has been described as “virtuosic”, “outstanding”, “mesmerising” and “breathtakingly beautiful” in industry press, with his latest production “Ignite” (recorded with leading harmonica player Will Pound) shortlisted as one of the Telegraph’s top albums of 2016.
Together Flossie and Eddy create a unique sound covering much loved French chansons and jazz standards – amongst others – such as “La vie en rose”, “la Mer”, “Nuages”, “C’est si bon”, “Sway”… to name but a few – and create a sound with depth and variety untypical of a duo. ”
Flossie is a popular figure on her home music scene (UK folk) and is well know for her an endearing charm and banter on stage. In fact she has recently been asked to be the resident compare for several of the international festivals run by Mike Harding’s ‘Costa del Folk’ franchise.
