The Hamish Birchall Trio specialise in creating a relaxed, sophisticated atmosphere with a variety of genres: swing, latin, funk, classic soul and reggae. This vibrant live music will transform your corporate event, party or wedding, and they have years of professional experience in all these settings.
Hamish Birchall is a London-based professional drummer. For 20 years his trio, often joined by sax, vocals and guitar, has provided live music in a variety of genres for a long list of blue chip corporate clients. His bands have entertained prime ministers and VIPs in top London hotels and clubs, in landmark buildings such as the Gherkin, Natural History and Science Museums. They have performed on luxury liners across the Atlantic, in the Mediterranean and Black Sea, and closer to home on Thames River cruisers.
The Hamish Birchall Trio is inspired by the great trios led by Oscar Peterson, Ahmad Jamal, McCoy Tyner, Gene Harris, Benny Green and Monty Alexander, among others. Their repertoire ranges from the 1920s to the present day, including the most popular jazz standards by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Rodgers & Hart, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, Thelonius Monk, Irving Berlin and many more. With the addition of a singer, saxophone or guitar, or all three, they become a great dance band.
Their list of satisfied customers includes: Chelsea Football Club, Harrods, Touche Ross, Accenture, the Financial Times, Fenwick of Bond Street, Marks & Spencers Marble Arch, the BBC, the Royal Academy of Art, Mastercard, Starbucks, P&O, Swan Hellenic Cruises, SeaFrance, Selfridges, Transport for London, and the Variety Club of Great Britain.
Over the years, the trio has enjoyed several long-term residencies, among them the Hilton Park Lane Brasserie, the former China Jazz in Camden, the Victoria & Albert Museum Cafe, and Mezzo’s in Soho (now called Floridita).
“…they were superb … the trio were highly professional and a delight to deal with. I would heartily recommend them for your event” Professor Martin Cloonan, University of Glasgow
