Quicksilver's Bio

A versatile band of leading instrumentalists from the UK folk, jazz and roots scene. British, Irish and American tunes for barn dances and ceilidhs, plus French, Italian and Eastern European styles.

Whether it’s a barn dance, wedding reception, dinner, garden party or themed event, Quicksilver can promise you:

Great music… a wealth of experience, not just of running dances, but also of concerts, touring, recording, festivals, radio and TV appearances. Mike Ruff, Chris Haigh and Bernard O’Neill are all full time musicians, at home working in a wide spectrum of musical fields. They play lively and interesting music for dancing, and while you get your breath back will play short pieces from their concert repertoire.

Versatility… Besides British, Irish and American tunes usually associated with barn dances, Quicksilver can draw on a huge repertoire of international music to accommodate your theme, be it Scottish for St. Andrew’s or Burns Night, English for St. George’s Day, French, Italian, East European, maritime and many more. The line-up of the band can be tailored to suit your requirement and budget, and the band will be very happy to talk to you about your exact requirements in detail before the event.

The calling… Callers such as Tom Brown use their experience to keep things moving. They explain what to do as simply as possible, making it both easy and fun. Their understanding of a variety of styles and events will work to your advantage.

Professionalism… As full-time musicians, you can expect from Quicksilver the highest standards of organization, sound quality and presentation.
