Drum Waiters's Bio

A music act like no other, the Drum Waiters incorporate elements of world rhythms, Stomp and rock’n’roll drums into a unique performance that is perfect for any event whether indoors or out…

Following in the best traditions of the singing waiters and the stage show Stomp, the Drum Waiters provide corporate after dinner entertainment in a fresh, highly animated and inventive way.

Dressed as waiters and helping serve dinner guests prior to the performance, at the appointed time they subtly start to reveal their true colours. Spread around the room, the first ‘waiter’ starts to clap a rhythm that is picked up by each of the others in turn. At first there is a degree of uncertainty amongst the guests as to what exactly is happening, but as soon as the waiters produce saucepans, trays and cutlery to create fascinating and impressive sounds and beats they quickly become caught up in the fun rhythmic atmosphere as the performers wind their way around the guests towards the stage area.

The show proceeds with skilfully choreographed moves, a variety of drums and percussion instruments – not to mention large water butts for an exciting Kodo piece – and some familiar rhythms – We Will Rock You is always guaranteed to get the guests clapping along. The performance ends with a powerful high speed finale on drum kit and tom toms.

Throughout the Drum Waiters are energetic, vibrant and dynamic, and a degree of audience participation is always inevitable, with guests clapping along, and the Drum Waiters instruments can even be branded if required …
Created by Mark Walker, one of Disney’s drummers from the West End production of the Lion King and a leading performer on the conference circuit, the Drum Waiters are extremely accomplished and vibrant musicians, whose ability to drum is matched by their ability to perform in an enthralling, engaging, exciting and downright entertaining way…

Guest participation

For some clients a higher degree of audience participation is a requirement. For those who have such a desire, the Drum Waiters can provide boomwhackers for guests to play along on. Boomwhackers are coloured plastic tubes that are struck on the hand (or any other part of the body!) and play musical notes. They are lightweight and great fun. Non musicians can be turned into a wonderful sounding musical boomwhacker orchestra in a very short space of time.
