Groovejuice's Bio
Groovejuice is led by bass guitarist Lloyd Orford whose projects so far have supported Shalamar, Heatwave, Edwin Starr, Imagination, Boney M, The Real Thing, George McCrae, Ruby Turner and Courtney Pine. From a family of professional musicians, his love of live performance and thoughtful leadership have developed a unique fusion of talented players. Corporate, private and theatre appearances have taken them from the prestigious ballrooms of the West End across the UK and abroad.
This dynamic group have now joined forces with established showman Llew Green. A natural performer, Llew ‘The Fly’ charms, excites and captivates audiences with his rich soulful voice and a larger than life personality. From the first funky beat, the audience discover a mission to party and the beginning of a truly special rapport.
Groovejuice can also appear with additional top female vocalists, brass and percussion to create a really spectacular show. This professional band travel with quality sound and lighting systems (par-can and LED coloured, programmable lighting plus some disco effect lights) enabling them to provide the disco between live sets as well.
Where a DJ is required, it will be one of the band. He works from a laptop, predominantly in iTunes but also with the facility to mix, beatmatch etc in another programme. He always welcomes input from the client and encourages them to email a list of preferences with regard to eras and styles, plus a list of up to 20 ‘must play’ tracks if required. The live band always carries the main impact of the evening, so he tends not to be too vocal when DJing. The first hour or so at a wedding reception tends to warm things up, accompanying the ‘meet and greet’. He builds towards the first band set and during their breaks the DJ music is seamless, continuing to create an atmosphere until they come back on.
Corporate clients include: BT… Hewlett Packard… American Express… Skandia Life… BP… KFC… Mason Zimbler… Talkington & Bates… The Lunan Group… Madame Tussauds… Sea Containers… and the beat goes on!
At the Cambridge Festival supporting Edwin Starr, the man himself said with inimitable style, “They sound pretty good to me!”
