Opera Singers For Hire

With an extensive repertoire, excellent core of experienced performers and an infectious sense of theatrical fun, Hatstand Opera are uniquely equipped to bring the best of the world of opera to any venue.

“Golden Moments from Opera”
Hilarious scenes and heart-rending arias from the world’s favourite operas, presented by Hatstand’s professional singers and pianist. Quick costume changes and informal presentation combine with top-notch singing for a great evening of music and laughter.

The Company
Hatstand Opera was formed to bring opera to new venues and audiences across the UK and beyond. “Golden Moments from Opera”, our flagship blend of popular arias and comic scenes, plus a generous helping of well-known items, has been touring for over ten years across the UK to packed audiences in village halls, castles, National Trust properties, art galleries and theatres alike. With a ‘go-anywhere’ policy, Hatstand have sung at the Liberation Celebrations in Guernsey, at Belton House with the City of London Sinfonia for 7000 people in the open air, for conference dinners, Christmas concerts and charity galas from Aberystwyth to Wick, the Barbican Centre, even on the same bill as Julio Iglesias in a vineyard in Western Australia!

Our expanding education work includes workshops for ages 5 upwards, culminating in either a showing of work or fully staged public performances with Hatstand Opera.

Opera Cabaret:
Perhaps you’re planning a fund-raising dinner, or launching a new product, or simply celebrating a special anniversary. Whatever, the occasion, you can delight and entertain your special guests with the UK’s specialists in ‘go-anywhere’ opera cabaret, Hatstand Opera.

Hatstand Opera not only enjoy, but positively thrive on tailoring their shows to clients’ special needs.
– Need us to spring into song during a drinks reception, then call in the guests to dinner with opera excerpts between courses? Beats a gong any day!
– Want a programme specific to the surroundings? This summer we’ve created unique programmes for venues as diverse as The Tank Museum in Bovingdon, Trafalgar Square, and a 500-year old house in Hampshire.
– Would like something written just for you? This year alone, our resident composer has created new works to celebrate Tiger tanks and 21st century chickens!

Hatstand Soloists
Hatstand soloists are highly experienced performers, with a special skill in performing close-up to any audience. Our singers perform with a wide variety of companies from Wexford to ENO, Glyndebourne to Covent Garden, D’Oyly Carte to Phantom of the Opera, but they return to work with Hatstand when they can – because they love it!

New acta: “Vocal Vices” – Where vice is nice, and the singing is simply divine. The naughty new show from Hatstand Opera that’s greedy for good tunes, lustful for laughter and never too proud to be fun! A divinely decadent banquet of opera and operetta, garnished with songs from the shows, and seasoned with numbers you can’t help but hum along with.

Hatstand Opera also offer:

“Lights, Camera…Action!” – The music behind famous movies, from opera to silver screen classics. Timeless tunes presented in glorious (techni)colour by the versatile and enterprising Hatsand singers.

“A Laugh at the Opera” – A ribtickling romp through everyone’s comic opera favourties.  Laughs and surprises from Mozart, Rossini, Nicolai and many more.

“Love, Lust and a damn good Chardonnay” – A songbook of life’s little essentials, from finding (and losing, or simply mislaying) the love of your life, to winning over the mother of all mother-in-laws…

“Hatstand Opera is perfect.  Lovely…a great success”  The Guardian

Hatstand Opera are a proud member of the only professional opera body in the UK, the Opera and Music Theatre Forum.
