Bold as Brass: brass bands for hire

Time to polish your brass and lubricate your valves and slides! On Saturday, it’s The National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain at the Royal Albert Hall, London. It’s a packed day of competition, with the first band on stage at 10am and the last of the twenty competing bands finishing at 6.20pm! This year, the test piece is “Handel in the Band”,composed by Kenneth Downie, and it’s a really barnstormer!

So, we thought we’d celebrate our own brass champions here at Matters Musical, ready to bring the majesty, excitement and enjoyment of brass band music to any event.

 

Military brass bands

For pomp and ceremony, it’s hard to beat a military marching band. From parades to opening ceremonies, it’s a celebration of precision musicianship that’s great to watch as well as listen to.

The Band of the 24th Invicta Rifles offer marching displays & fanfare trumpeters for a variety of in and outdoor events. Players are ex-regular and current serving musicians from the military, and can perform for a variety of events including County shows, arena events, promotional events, street parades, and traditional cabaret marching displays for an unforgettable after dinner display.

Big bands

Who doesn’t love a big band! Combining the style of swing and the nostalgic sound of mellow brass. perfect to dance to, a joy to listen to, and we have one of the biggest bands in the country right here at Matters Musical.

The BBC Big Band are one of the country’s best big bands. The perform regularly on radio and in concert, and their list of star guest performers ranges from Amy Winehouse to Georgie Fame, Tony Bennet to Phil Collins.

The Little Big Band. As their name suggests, this vibrant 7 piece brass band recreates the classic sound of Big Band and Swing for smaller spaces and budgets.

The Red Stripe Band are a 7 piece band playing jazz, jump jive, rock ‘n’ roll and wicked big band boogie woogie arrangement! We defy you to be able to stand still or stray off the dance floor when this talented troupe are playing!

Brass ensembles and quintets

When you want a brass band, but don’t have a big budget, these groups will deliver the power of brass for any space and any occasion.

Premier Brass are are brilliant brass quintet performing a wide ranging repertoire of music from Baroque to pop. The brass quintet are happy to perform at music festivals, weddings, business luncheons, mess dinners, garden parties, product launches and more.

Chameleon Brass is a vibrant, entertaining brass quintet, whose enthusiasm is utterly infectious! They have performed with The BBC Singers and have played at venues such as the Millennium Dome, Fairfield Halls and St Johns, Smith Square.

Unusual brass bands

Playing the best of brass across all kinds of musical styles, our diverse brass-based bands are great for events where you want the energy of brass but without the pomp!

The Brass Volcanos are a funky, energetic band, with brass and saxophones backed by drums and a sousaphone playing jazz, funk blues and more.

The Bollywood Brass Band consist of four funky drummers and a hot six-piece horn section, united by the beat of the dhol drum. A colourful, joyful and exhilarating act for any wedding, summer festival, street parade or themed event.

It’s simple!

  1. Click on the links above to visit each band’s profile page.
  2. Listen to their demo tracks, watch their videos, and decide which bands might be best for your event.
  3. For each band you’re interested in, click “Add to shortlist” button at the top right of the page.
  4. You’ll see a new green “Your Enquires” tab at the top of every page, listing every band on your shortlist.
  5. Click the “Enquire Now” button at the bottom of the list.
  6. On the Enquiry form, just complete your event details. You’ll see we’ve already added your shortlisted acts to your enquiry. Click the “Submit” button and we’ll get right back to you.
